Water Well System Repair

One of the worst days in the life of a water well owner is waking up and finding there is no water for getting ready that morning. We want to do all we can to take some of the misery out of that experience.

Are you a Do It Yourself-er? Scroll down to see some basic troubleshooting advice or to watch a troubleshooting video. Or click here to go to our Videos & Diagrams page. This page contains diagrams of some of your water well components and videos on a variety of maintenance and troubleshooting tips.

Want us to come fix the problem? Generally we can come out the same day. We can even come out on weekends and holidays in case of an emergency. Click here to go to our Service/Repair Request page. Be sure to send us as much information as you can regarding the problem. Pictures and videos are also a great help to know what we will encounter when we come out.

Want to avoid a problem before it happens? Sign up for our Well Maintenance Plan. Click here for video. We will come out twice a year to inspect the system, fix any minor issues we discover, and make recommendations regarding any major work that may be pending so that you can make changes on YOUR TIME FRAME – not just whenever a component of the system just decides to fail. While you have the Well Maintenance Plan, we will give you 10% off of the cost of any labor that takes place.
To sign up for the Well Maintenance Plan, go to our Service/Repair Request Page and tell us in the comments section that you want to sign up.
Click here for a video from one of our technicians discussing the items that are checked during a Well Maintenance visit .

Storage Tank Systems can also help to prevent ever waking up without water or having water with a high volume of sulfur gas or iron. We design our storage tank systems with a unique reserve system that “warns” you before you run out of water that there is a problem with the well or well pump. Visit our Storage Tank System Page for more details on how this system works. Or go to our Storage Tank Request Page for a free estimate on a system for your home, business, church, or organization.

  1. Check the breakers. Make sure that the breakers are on and not tripped
  2. Check the pressure switch (pictured to right). Make sure that the points are closed and that there are no ants in the contacts. You can clean the contacts with an emery board or sand paper. Make sure that you turn off the power to the switch before cleaning. Mothballs or part of a “cow ear tag” will help to keep ants out of the pressure switch. Note: If you have a constant pressure system, you will not have a pressure switch. Note 2: Mothballs are okay for pressure switches, but do not put them in a metal box.
  3. Check the overloads on the control box. If you have a box that looks like the one on the right, there are either one or two red reset buttons on the bottom. You have to push hard (10 pounds of pressure) to make them reset. If they were tripped, you will hear a definite “click” sound. Make sure and reset both if you have two.
  4. If you have a constant pressure controller, look at the lights on the front of the unit. If the red light is blinking, count the blinks and refer to the chart on the side of the unit. You can reset the unit by turning off the power to the unit for 5 minutes. If the fault continues, call us and tell us which fault you are experiencing.
  5. If you still have no water, turn off the breakers to the well and call us for service.
  1. Check the water level in the storage tank. If the water level is about 1/3 full, then flip the bypass switch marked “Reserve”. The switch is located on the side of the large gray electrical box. The system will deliver the remaining water in the tank until Bee Cave Drilling can fix the well. Please use water sparingly and contact us for service.
  2. If the tank is more than half full, then check the pressure switch.
  3. If the tank is low on water, you can try to fix the submersible pump (in the well).
  5. If you still have no water, turn off the breakers to the well, and call us for service.

Excellent service and expertise! My assigned technician Ethan worked with his team to figure out a complex problem with my pump. He delivered a great solution for my specific problem. I've been a customer for 10 years. I highly recommend Bee Cave Drilling!"

- Charly Simmons

The booster pump went out this morning at 8 am. Called Bee Cave Drilling and they had a crew out here by 10 am. Ethan and his assistant had me up and running with a new booster pump in 2 hours. Professional, knowledgable, and just great guys. Will only use these folks going forward."

- Walter Lynn

Shawn and Kevin worked all day in the heat and then stayed until 9pm to get our well pump replaced and our water back on. Not many businesses or contractors putting those kind of hours in to get the job done! I'm very happy with these guys. Will use again!"
