Kibera, Kenya
Another need that Mindy and Bobby discovered was Kibera, a slum on the outskirts of Nairobi where the worst conditions exist. This slum has 2.5 million people and is the world’s largest slum. Most people drink from the local streams which are filled with debris and disease of every kind. Moving these people from the slums to other areas of Kenya is a viable solution. This can only be accomplished through drilling of wells throughout rural Kenya and establishing new communities for these people.
Starting technical training schools to teach trades will allow Kenyans to be self-sufficient. We are in the process of purchasing land for these communities and drilling the wells needed so the buildings can then be constructed. In January 2007, we purchased 100 acres from a Maasai, and we are now raising funds to drill the first well on this project. The cost to drill and complete each well is about $50,000 US. Each well can support 10,000 people.
We are looking for donations to help cover the costs. If you wish to donate, contact Mindy at 512-894-4221 or Email Her at mindy@beecavedrilling.com
