Bee Cave Drilling has had a long desire to help people in need.
Since it's inception, Bee Cave Drilling has been helping less fortunate
individuals with their water supply needs. Invited by Living Water
International, Bobby Roberts and Jim Blair traveled to Nairobi, Kenya in 2004 to
help train Kenyans to drill water wells. Following this trip, two Kenyans came
to Texas and trained for six weeks with the Bee Cave Drilling crews. The
Kenyan drillers learned drilling techniques that allow them to drill faster and
more efficiently. In October, 2006 Mindy and Bobby
Roberts returned to Kenya to assess water needs throughout the country.
They found the Massai tribe are among the people without clean drinking water.
The Massai are a nomadic tribe living in mud and dung huts. They travel
all over Kenya to find grazing land for their cattle. Living conditions
are harsh for these people.
Another need that Mindy and Bobby discovered was Kibera, a
slum on the outskirts of Nairobi where the worst conditions are found. The
slum has 1.5 million people and only 2 water supply wells for all these people.
Most drink from the local streams which are filled with debris and disease of
every kind. Moving these people from the slums to other areas of Kenya is
a viable solution. This can only be accomplished through drilling of wells
throughout rural Kenya and establishing new communities for these people.
Starting technical training schools to teach trades will allow Kenyans to be
self-sufficient. We are in the process of purchasing land for these
communities and drilling the wells needed so the buildings can then be
constructed. In January 2007, we purchased 100 acres from a Massai, and we
are now raising funds to drill the first well on this project. The cost to
drill and complete each well is about $50,000 US. Each well can support
10,000 people. We are looking for donations to help cover the costs.

We also have started Family of Faith Champions Home.
These homes are immediate rescue homes to get children with no parents out of
slums. Each home will have eight children and a house parent. The
house parent is usually a widow and there is a man that will visit each home to
provide a male role model. The cost to set up each home is $3,050 and
monthly operations will cost $1,350. We currently have one home open and
our goal is to have ten. If you would like to get involved contact Mindy.
She has literature and videos to describe all of our mission projects.
Pictured here are the kids in the first home all dressed up for school.
They are: (left to right) Joel Gechira, Nesia Machera, Faith Masero, James
Wahiga, Christopher Okello, Nickodemus Oduor. The other kids Sheila and Peris
Moi are seen in the next picture in their new home. We are also starting
to work in the following countries: Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, and
Sudan.
Bee Cave Drilling is actively seeking mission projects in our
own area. If you know of someone who needs help, just let us know.
Daily we are answering the call of God to do His work. We thank God that
He has blessed us with the gifts and opportunities to serve Him. Please
pray that He will continue to show us where to serve Him. |
